With the World Procurement Awards later this week we hear from Michelle Fargen, our Supply Chain & Category Development Director, on why she’s proud Foodbuy has been shortlisted as finalists for the Procurement Team Award.
What’s the best thing about being shortlisted for this award?
“Firstly, we’re in prestigious company. The World Procurement Awards are the most celebrated and sought-after awards in procurement. I’ve come across to the UK from our US business and these awards really are a big deal. They recognise some of the most influential procurement organisations from around the world and I’m proud Foodbuy has been ranked alongside other businesses and organisations who are leaders in their chosen markets.”
“Secondly, there was a record number of entries. This year Procurement Leaders received entries from businesses and organisations in over 36 countries. Win or lose, just making the shortlist is a fantastic achievement.”
Why do you think Foodbuy was shortlisted?
“Being shortlisted for the Procurement Team Award caps off what has been a transformative year for Foodbuy. We delivered record levels of financial benefit to our clients but at the same time we achieved significant cultural and strategic benefits too. Financially, our managed spend increased by 11% thanks to a number of new business wins, retentions and our efforts in helping existing clients increase their sales.
What about the cultural changes?
“To be able to deliver financially, we also recognised we needed to do things differently both culturally and strategically. Culturally, we worked to refine our Foodbuy vision, developed company values, and agreed our own shared purpose and team charter. Strategically, we identified four priorities for our largest client, that if delivered, would give ourselves the best possible chance of success.”
